Beth was later an English teacher at Spring Valley High School.
The Palms have five children: Ashley, 30, of Bloomington, Minn., Sara, 28, of Bloomington, Ind., Adam, 26, of Richfield, Minn., Jenny, 21, of Park Rapids and Ellie, 7. They have two sons-in-law and two grandchildren living in Indiana.
About his new job, Rory said: “My wife Beth and I are excited about the opportunity to relocate to Mitchell. We have spent some time there recently and were impressed by all the town has to offer as well as the friendliness of the people everywhere we went. The Daily Republic is an award-winning newspaper with an excellent reputation. I look forward to working with the staff and becoming a partner in its continued success.”
FCC Director of Newspapers Matt McMillen added: “I’ve known Rory more than 15 years. He takes pride in his work and offers a nice combination of newspaper and media skills, a passion for civic involvement and a great sense of humor.”
Like the River Falls Journal, the Daily Republic is owned by Forum (FCC), a multimedia information company based in Fargo, N.D., which owns dozens of newspapers, websites, television and radio stations and commercial printing plants in South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
