Jim Larson, 63

James Robert Larson "Jim" "Meatman", age 63, of River Falls, passed away on Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at the Augustana Health Care Center in Hastings, Minn.

He was born in Eau Claire on Dec. 9, 1945, son of Stanley and Luverne (Ullman) Larson. Jim married Sharon (Rock-Burdick) on Dec. 12, 1980. The Larson family was a real presence on main street River Falls for many years. Jim began his career as a carry out boy for Larson's Super Value. He later owned his own meat business as Larson's Meats and went on to work as a meat cutter for Knowlans Groceries, St. Paul. Jim filled our hearts with love and laughter. We will miss his humor and ability to make us laugh.

Jim is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sharon; children, Cheryl (Kris) Schultz, Michelle (Scott) Larson, Robin (Paul) Baker, Mike (Shannon) Rock, and Eric (Jenni) Rock; 11 grandchildren, D.J. Schultz, Brad Schultz, Samantha Sampair, Eddie Neiderhauser, Patrece Baker, Myah Baker Austin Rock, Joshua Rock, Jordyn Rock, Taylor Rock, and Hayden Rock; sisters, Betty (Gary) Speer, and Jeanne Hebing; sister-in-law, Mary Ellen (Tuffy) Johnson; and further survived by many nieces and nephews. Jim is also survived by many loving caregivers at Augustana Health Center of Hastings, where Jim was a resident for the past 2-1/2 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Luverne.

Funeral services for Jim will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at United Methodist Church in River Falls with Rev. Janet Ellinger will officiate. Interment will be in Warren Cemetery, Roberts. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Cashman-Hill Funeral Home and again on Saturday at church from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
