Iva M. Blevins, 101, longtime resident of River Falls, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2009, at Our House Senior Living in River Falls.
She was born in Clark, S.D., on March 31, 1908, daughter of Carl and Anna (Ponton) Curtice.
She married Claude Day Blevins on Feb. 22, 1943. Iva and Claude moved to River Falls after World War II. They farmed in Clifton Hollow until Claude's death in 1951. Iva worked testing milk at the DHIA in River Falls, also at the candy counter at Schultz's Five and Dime in River Falls. She was also a cook at the River Falls University day care. She enjoyed quilting, baking, reading, walking and the Minnesota Twins.
Iva is survived by two children: Diane (Jim) Wolfe of River Falls, and Dennis (Pat) Blevins of River Falls; eight grandchildren: Brian (Mary) Wolfe of Carver, Minn., Laurie Wolfe of River Falls, Stacy Wolfe of River Falls, Tracy Blevins of River Falls, Angie (Mike) Heimer of River Falls, David (Amelia) Blevins of Santa Monica, Calif., Sally (Josh) Hauge of River Falls, and Katie Hartung of Rochester, Minn.; and nine great-grandchildren: Lucas Wolfe, Michael Jensen, Ashley Wolfe, Sam Wolfe, Hannah Heimer, Adrianna Jacobson, Carter Heimer, Laynie Hauge and Kayla Nelson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claude; eight brothers; and six sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, with Father Gerald Harris officiating.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery with Dennis and David Blevins, Jim and Brian Wolfe, and Roger and Tom Perrizo serving as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers are Bruce Meents, Lucas Wolfe, Michael Jenson, Harley Timmerman, Barry Edwards and David Thoen.
