Weiss, a 1990 River Falls High School graduate, has had a school named for him in the city of Khalhalan, in the Iraqi province of Kirkuk.

The school, which opened late this summer, will be able to educate about 250 students in that city.

Along with the men and women in his battalion, Weiss spearheaded the project led by the Iraqi government.

Read more about Weiss, his project and possible homecoming by Thanksgiving in the Oct. 15 print edition of the River Falls Journal.
