Hubbers' comedy show fundraiser March 20
HAGER CITY--The Ellsworth Hubbers' fourth annual baseball comedy show fundraiser will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 20, at The Bluffs Bar and Grill in Hager City.
Scheduled performers include headliner John Bush and Benny Quash. Bush explained he has been a comedian for 20 years and said there's been no other profession for him.
"I've always been on stage my whole life," he said. "My dad and mom never really had a chance to stop me."
Bush got his opportunity when he was in college, as he worked in a comedy club.
"It kept going well, so I kept at it," he said.
He also said his act will include a lot of Midwestern jokes as, when he was a child, his family relocated from Hawaii to Minnesota. Also included in that act will be a disgruntled squirrel.
"The squirrel is an impression a buddy of mine does who is not a comic," Bush said. "I asked him if I could do it and it's been getting laughs ever since."
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door the night of the show. The event is available for age 18 and older. Proceeds will go toward the 2010 Hubbers' season and Bob Young Field.
