Homeowner escapes house fire
A River Falls man escaped a fire that engulfed his garage and part of his house Thursday evening, Dec. 19.
At about 4:33 p.m. River Falls Fire and EMS crews were called to a house fire at 212 S. Wasson Lane.
Assistant Fire Chief Mike Moody said he arrived at the scene about two minutes later. At that point, he said he could see flames in the basement and garage. By the time the first fire truck arrived, the garage was fully involved, Moody said.
It took firefighters about 10 minutes to get the fire under control.
The homeowners were identified by a neighbor and by Moody as Harold and Loretta Henson.
Harold Henson was at home when the fire started. Henson got out of the house. He was seen by EMS, but Moody said no serious injuries were reported.
Loretta Henson was not home at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The River Falls Rotary group has established an account for Harold and Loretta Henson at WESTconsin Credit Union to take donations.
