Homeless shelter opening delayed
The project to open an overnight homeless shelter in River Falls by the first week in April has been pushed back.
A key organizer, the Rev. Jerry Harris of St. Bridget Catholic Church, said this over the weekend: "There is still a lot of interest for the Homeless Project. We are getting more and more volunteers and donation in kind and money. This is being channeled through the churches for now."
Harris said the group organizing the homeless shelter plan is waiting to see what other local churches will agree to house the shelter.
As it stands, several larger churches will take turns rotating as homeless shelter hosts.
"Small groups are meeting to work out organizational details of the logistics of moving mattresses, laundry, showers, food, security, etc.," Harris said.
The Journal will post the latest developments on the homeless shelter project as they become known.
