High school football: Wildcats 17, Chippewa Falls 7
Senior quarterback Alex Call threw for one touchdown, ran for another and kicked a 31-yard field goal to account for all of River Falls' scoring as the Wildcats scored 17 unanswered points to defeat Chippewa Falls, 17-7, Friday night at Dorais Field.
Call hit John Maillette for a 90-yard touchdown on the final play of the third quarter to tie the score, 7-7. Six minutes later he outran the Cardinal defense 80 yards to give the Wildcats their first lead of the game with six minutes remaining.
Call iced the win with a 31-yard field goal with 2:04 to play that made the final 17-7.
Call overcame three interceptions in the first three quarters to score the final 17 points of the game and spoil Chippewa Falls' homecoming. He finished with 99 yards passing and 126 yards on the ground.
The Wildcats improved to 4-1 overall, 3-1 in the Big Rivers Conference while Chippewa Falls fell to 0-5, 0-4 in BRC play. The Cats are all alone in second place in the BRC, one game behind co-leaders Hudson and Menomonie.
