Help keep kids warm by donating winter clothing

Clean out your unused coats, snow pants, boots, hats, mittens and gloves in your closet and donate to a local collection box near you. Your donation will help keep a child warm and dry outside in January temperatures.

Basics for Local Kids is a local organization in their fourth year of offering winter-wear to kids ages infant to 18.

Gently used and new winter-wear items needed include coats, snow pants, boots, hats, mittens and gloves in kids and adult sizes (for the teens).

Monetary donations are also needed for boots, water-resistant gloves and other items that don’t get donated in needed sizes; please mail to: BLK, PO Box 61, Ellsworth, WI 54011.

Gently used and new winter-wear can be dropped off at these locations during business hours through the end of the year:

Bay City: Flat Pennies Ice Cream

Ellsworth: Associated Bank, Bank Mutual, Ellsworth Public Library

Hager City: Hiawatha National Bank

Hudson: Century 21-Premier Group

New Richmond: Century 21-Premier Group

Plum City: Bitter Sweet Bakery & More

Prescott: First National Bank of River Falls-Prescott, Prescott Chiropractic

River Falls distribution will be from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Nov. 2, at  Bridget's Catholic School Gym, 135 E. Division Street.

Basics for Local Kids realize it is about more than keeping kids warm – they strive to provide kids with warm items that are clean, fit nice, and not only keep kids warm, but also help boost self-esteem and the desire to be active outside.
