Helen Muto, 87
Helen Muto, 87, of River Falls, died Sunday, Aug. 17, at her home.
Helen was born on Sept. 19, 1926, in Chicago, Ill., to Anton and Anna (Weczka) Marcus. She grew up in Chicago. Helen met her husband Peter after becoming friends with Peter's sister, Nancy, while Peter was away serving in World War II. They were married on October 31, 1945, in Oak Park, Ill.
They moved to River Falls in 1954. Helen worked at the Hilltop Restaurant in Ellsworth, Wis., and as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Lutheran Home. She was a senior member of the Royal Neighbors group, taking part in many of their activities. She loved to go to Treasure Island Casino.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Anna Marcus; and seven siblings.
Helen is survived by her husband, Peter Muto; children, Allen Muto, Cheryl Karnes, Diane Muto, Mark Muto, and Roxann (Esekiel) Mendoza; grandchildren, Lisa (Brian) Cole, Randy Muto, Amy Paterek, Tara (Richard) Lueneberg, and Trevor Brown; and seven great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Helen's life will be held on Friday, Sept. 19, (Helen's Birthday) from 2-4 p.m. with a prayer service at 2 p.m. at the Bakken-Young Funeral Home, 805 E. Division Street, River Falls, WI.
