River Falls Wisconsin 2815 Prairie Drive / P.O. Box 25 54022

Anyone interested in ham radio operating are welcome to stop by Weitkamp Park, 648 O'Neil Road, on the south side of Hudson, between noon and 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, when St. Croix Valley amateur radio operators (Hams) will be hosting an American Radio Relay League (ARRL) annual national Field Day event . Field Day gives Hams an opportunity to hone their skills in setting up temporary emergency  communication equipment and contacting other Hams in the area, state, and nation.

Ham radio lets people talk across the globe, wirelessly and inexpensively. During disasters such as tornados, floods, wildfires, hurricanes, earthquakes, train or vehicle wrecks releasing hazardous chemicals, nuclear power plant malfunctions, and other declared emergencies, communications are vital.

Ham operators from the River Falls-Hudson-Hammond-Baldwin area will be available to explain the operation and answer questions about this fun and rewarding hobby.

For more information contact Lou Greub, WB9PVA, president of the St. Croix Valley Radio Amateurs (SCVRA) Club, at  l.greub218@pressenter.com or call 715-425-5391.
