H. Russell Lindgren, 84

H. Russell Lindgren, age 84, of Hammond, Wis., formerly of Rice Lake, Prescott, and Hudson, Wis., died Monday, March 29, 2010, at the American Heritage Care Center, Hammond.

Russell was born on August 22, 1925 in Barron County, Wis., the son of Hjalmer and Clara (Oleson) Lindgren. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 until 1946, when he was honorably discharged. Russell married the love of his life, Virgie Hinze on Jan. 20, 1945, in Virginia Beach, Va. He worked as lineman for NSP for many years.

Russell loved his family, friends and church. He was a member of Joy Lutheran Church, in Prescott.

H. Russell Lindgren is survived by his ten children, Daniel (Susan) Lindgren, Boone, N.C., David (Gretchen) Lindgren, St. Cloud, Minn., Bonnie (David) Kallberg, Colorado Springs, Colo., Tim (Beth) Lindgren, Park Falls, Wis., Ginny (David) Lien, Eau Claire, Wis., Cyndee (Stuart Schultz) Lindgren, Hudson, Becky (Kurt) Taylor, Tomah, Wis., Jan (Dan) Malaney, River Falls, Wis., Lisa (Jim) Malaney, Brookfield, Wis., Paul (Karen) Lindgren, Esko, Minn.; 32 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandson; one brother, Roger Lindgren, West Bend, Wis.

His wife, Virgie; parents; and brothers Lawrence, Carroll, Bobby and John preceded him in death.

Funeral services for Russell will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 2, at Joy Lutheran Church, Prescott. Rev. Amy Fondroy-Eich will officiate. Burial will be in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner, Wis., on Monday. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Hill Funeral Home, Prescott, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
