Grace Goblirsch, 20
Grace Goblirsch, age 20, of River Falls, Wis., passed away on Aug. 23 after losing an 8-month battle with acute myelogenous leukemia.
Grace was born on Oct. 31, 1992, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She attended Greenwood Elementary School, Meyer Middle School, and was a 2011 graduate of River Falls High School. She attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minn., for a year and a half before starting her battle with leukemia. Grace was an avid competitive swimmer from the age of 8 years. Swimming defined Grace, and she took her love of swimming to college where she competed on the ever-successful Gustavus team. She loved to teach and coach swimming.
Grace will always be remembered for her positive attitude even in the face of a devastating illness. She was a warm and caring person who could find the best in everyone.
Grace is survived by her parents, Greg and Sue Goblirsch; sister, Claire Goblirsch; grandparents, Greg and Maurine Goblirsch of Arlington, Minn., Margaret and Darrell Hannemann of Willmar, Minn.; aunt, Alison and Steve Schumacher; uncles, Jim and Joye Goblirsch, Mike and Greta Hannemann; cousins, Jacob, Maura, Kathryn, Anna Schumacher, Sam, Josh Goblirsch, Riley, Drew, Rhyen Hannemann.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, at St. Bridget Church in River Falls. Memorial visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, at St. Bridget Church, and on Tuesday from 10-11 a.m., also at the church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Grace's family.
