The Cats played in three 18-hole invitational later in the week, taking second at Clifton Hollow and Chippewa Falls, sandwiched around a first place finish Thursday at Rice Lake.

"We didn't play poorly in either of these losses, but I'd like to think not our best either," head coach Matt Garber said about the Clifton Hollow and Chippewa Falls invites. "Hopefully, the sting of losing when we still played OK will serve as motivation as we close out the conference season, and more importantly, enter the post season a week from tomorrow."

Garrett Loomis shot an even-par 36 to tie for first and Holden Ohlsen took third with a 38 while Blake Heimen finished fifth with a 40 to lead the Cats at Troy Burne last Tuesday.

Wednesday at Clifton Hollow, Ohlsen carded an 18-hole score of 76 and Loomis, Heimen and Joe Bodahl all had 77 as the Cats posted a team score of 307, five strokes behind first place Hill-Murray's 302.

Loomis shot an even-par 71 to earn medalist honors Thursday at Turtleback, and Ohlsen finished with a 79 to lead the Cats to a first place score of 314 at the 20-team Rice Lake Invitational. Hayward was a distant second with 322.

Heimen added a score of 81 while Bodahl and Mike Xiong each finished with 83.

Saturday, on a cold, blustery day at Lake Wissota Golf Course, the Cats put together a score of 315 in the rain and sleet but finished second to Eau Claire Memorial's 310.

Ohlsen led the way with a 76 and Loomis and Xiong each finished with 79 while Heimen carded an 81.

The Cats will compete at the BRC Tournament this Friday, May 17, at Wild Ridge in Eau Claire before returning to Rice Lake for a WIAA Division 1 regional at Turtleback Tuesday, May 21.
