Gas-station customers subdue would-be robber
Sheboygan Falls Police say they want several charges against a 22-year-old man who attacked a gas station customer, right after he tried-and-failed to rob the place. It happened late Oct. 18 at a "Q"-Mart convenience store.
Police said the man demanded money from the clerk - and when the clerk wouldn't give it to him, he beat up a 62-year-old woman who was standing in line. Officials said the robber tried to grab the woman's purse, but she hung onto it - and he dragged her outside the station and punched her several times.
Other customers then subdued the robber and held him down until police could arrive. The woman suffered minor injuries.
Police said the robber did not have a weapon but had a getaway car running and had tried to hide its license plates. Police said he disguised his appearance but would not say how.
The man faces possible counts of armed robbery, battery, disorderly conduct, and several traffic violations.
