Frey accepts DI hockey scholarship offer
Former River Falls High School hockey star Trent Frey has accepted a scholarship offer from Division I Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pa., for the 2010-11 season.
Frey, currently the leading goal scorer for the Springfield Junior Blues of the North America Hockey League (NAHL) accepted the offer from Mercyhurst head coach Rick Gotkin after playing in last weekend's NAHL Top Prospects Tournament in Ann Arbor, Mich., where he had a goal and an assist while leading the South Division to a 2-1 record.
Frey, a 2008 graduate of River Falls High School, holds Wildcat hockey records with 37 goals in a season and 100 in his career. He currently leads the Junior Blues, and is fourth in the NAHL, with 22 goals this season.
