Former Wildcats Johnson, Obermueller atop State Open leader board
Neil Johnson has a four-stroke lead over fellow River Falls' native Tyler Obermueller after the first two rounds of the Wisconsin State Open at Blackwolf Run in Kohler.
Johnson posted a pair of birdies and an eagle Tuesday en route to a 2-under-par 70 that moved him to 7-under (137) for the tournament. After making a birdie 4 on the 13th hole, he finished with five straight pars to record one of just nine sub-par rounds in Tuesday's breezy conditions.
Obermueller, who turned pro after winning this year's Wisconsin State Amateur, also shot a 2-under-par 70 to leave him four strokes behind Johnson at 3-under (141) for the tournament. Three other players are tied at 2-under.
Another River Falls' golfer, Andy Rauscher, is tied for 46th at 10-over par (154) heading into today's (Wednesday) 36-hole final round.
