Former prominent store owner in River Falls dies

 Richard (Dick) Fox, who for more than 40 years owned and operated Fox Ace Hardware on North Main Street, died on Feb. 18.

Fox was 97. He was living at Kinnic Health and Rehab nursing home in River Falls.

Memorial burial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 22, at St. Bridget Catholic Church. Fox will be buried at St. Bridget Cemetery in River Falls.

Fox was also a landlord in River Falls, owning many local rental properties.

He celebrated a 41st anniversary running his hardware store (now the site of Dollar General, 320 N. Main St.) in September 1990.

In a special ceremony in May 2013, Fox was one of seven war veterans to receive honor pins and certificates of appreciation for service to one’s country from American Legion Post #121 Commander Todd Schultz.

Fox was an Air Force captain for three and a half years in Europe during World War II.
