Fire consumes Pierce County barn
The barn and several other buildings at the Ralph Lindstrom farm at W8067 County Road K several miles southwest of Ellsworth burned to the ground late Friday evening/early Saturday morning in a massive and dangerous fire.
Dry conditions and wind gusts of up to 40 mph already made for a hazardous situation along with the fact the fire was late at night. High winds whipped huge clouds of black smoke across County Road K. Firefighters from many different departments across Pierce County fought the main fire and several smaller ones around the property as the wind blew embers to the dry ground.
County dispatches also indicated animals may have been in the barn when the fire engulfed the building shortly after 11:30 p.m.
The fire illuminated the night sky and could be seen from miles away.
Firefighters worked through the night and well into Saturday morning putting out the fires.
