Fire ban continues for River Falls area; recent rain doesn't help
River Falls Fire Chief Scott Nelson says that even with Wednesday's rain, conditions remain dry and the fire ban for the area will continue through the weekend.
Nelson has talked with fire chiefs in Hudson and Prescott who concur about this decision.
The region was under a Fire Watch Weather Area due to excessive heat, lack of rain and high winds late last month.
Because of those conditions, River Falls and many surrounding towns implemented a fire ban immediately.
During this ban, open fires are prohibited, including recreational fires.
Besides River Falls, these cities and towns also have implemented the ban: Troy, Clifton, River Falls (town), Kinnickinnic, Pleasant Valley, Roberts and Hudson.
