"Fiddler on the Roof" features area actors, opens Sept. 7
Many local residents are part of the Willow River Players upcoming production of "Fiddler on the Roof" opening this Friday night at the New Richmond High School Auditorium, 650 Richmond Way in New Richmond, across Hwy 65 from Wal-Mart.
The well-known musical is set in the early 1900's Russian village of Anatevka, where a close-knit village of Jewish settlers are forced out of their homes and town by the Russian government. The main focus of the show is Tevye's family and the struggle with the traditions of the Jewish faith, and the desires of the daughters who want to marry men not chosen by the matchmaker.
River Falls area residents include Woody Davidson, Jessie and Ellen Rayne, Cindy and Robert Bauer, Braden Hanafee-Major, Carolyn Morris, Camille Budrow. Playing the lead role of Tevye is George Gfall of New Richmond. Roberts resident Dawn Budrow is the leading lady of the show, playing Tevye's wife Golde. Director David Frank is from Deer Park, Debi Orff of Stillwater is musical director.
Shows are Friday and Saturday nights at 7 p.m. and Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. Sept. 7, 8, 9, 14, 15, and 16. Tickets are available at Willow River Players or by calling 715-246-1028.
