Fertilizer basics: Learn what, when and why April 30
Confused about what to fertilize, when, and with what? Not enough fertilizer, and your plants won't perform to their full potential. Too much fertilizer, and you could cause excessive foliage, damage the roots, or outright kill the plant! Fertilizing at the wrong time can do more harm than good for the health of the plant.
Fertilizer can also be a major pollutant, especially as it relates to lakes, rivers and streams, so proper use is important for the protection of our environment. And, of course, using more fertilizer than needed is simply a waste of money!
Diana Alfuth, Pierce County Horticulture Agent with UW Extension will present a class on proper, safe and responsible fertilization from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 30, in the downstairs meeting room of the River Falls Public Library.
The class is free, but preregistration is required due to limited room size. To register for the class, please call the Pierce County UW-Extension office at (715) 273-6781.
