Family Resource Center ready with summer program
This summer marks the fourth year of Play & Learn in the Parks, Family Resource Center St. Croix Valley’s all-outdoor programming with emphasis on good nutrition and exercise.
Designed for toddlers, preschoolers and their parents, groups focus on promoting a healthy lifestyle through good nutrition and exercise through active play.
Participants are encouraged to try new fruits and vegetables through weekly snacks from local farmer’s markets. Families learn new ways to stay active with their children while also becoming more familiar with state and county parks in the region.
All groups begin the week of June 9 and run through the week of August 19.
In River Falls and Hudson, the schedules are:
--River Falls, 10-11:30 a.m. Wednesdays, Glen Park Shelter
--Hudson, 10-11:30 a.m. Thursdays, Willow River State Park
Families in Pierce, Polk and St. Croix Counties can register for Play & Learn in the Parks at no cost by calling the Family Resource Center (FRCSCV) office at 715-684-4440, beginning Monday, June 2.
Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
Family Resource Center St. Croix Valley is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit community organization founded in 1998 to offer early childhood development, family support, and parent education resources.
FRCSCV is a funded partner of United Way St. Croix Valley and a Success By 6 vendor.
Play & Learn in the Parks was developed in response to a Public Health needs assessments in Pierce, Polk and St. Croix Counties and is funded in part through two grants: Healthier Together – St. Croix County, and the St. Croix Valley Master Gardner Association, which provides materials for planting activities.
