Falcons earn All-American honors
The UW-River Falls women's 4x400 meter relay team set a school record and placed fourth to earn All-American honors at the NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships at Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, last weekend.
The team of Samantha Nyre, Alyssa Rasmussen, Kali Meurer and Natasha Arnold finished in 3 minutes, 46.93 seconds to destroy their own school record of 3:49.77 set at the UW-La Crosse Eagle Open May 14.
Arnold also earned All-American honors with a seventh place finish in the 400 meter run with a time 55.95 seconds in Saturday's finals. In Friday's trials she set a school record with a time of 55.87. Arnold, a junior from Stevens Point, also earned NCAA All-American honors for her eighth place finish at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Championships in March.
Nyre did not qualify for the finals in her specialty, the 400 meter hurdles. She ran in the third heat and finished sixth in 1:05.13. The last qualifying time was 1:02.65.
The Falcons scored seven team points and placed 38th. Illinois Wesleyan won the women's team title with 54 points, just beating UW-Oshkosh. Seventy-seven teams scored points in the meet. The Titans finished with 53 points. North Central won the men's team title with 53 points.
