An Ellsworth man and Apple Valley, Minn., woman were both transported to River Falls Area Hospital with apparent non-life threatening injuries following a two-vehicle accident in the town of Oak Grove late Saturday morning.

Sheriff's Deputy Tonette May said Karina Clausen, 18, of Apple Valley, was northbound on County Road E around 11:40 a.m. when she failed to stop at the intersection with Hwy. 10. As she crossed the highway, her car was struck by an eastbound vehicle driven by Jeffrey Vold, 47.

Vold's vehicle came to rest in the north ditch while Clausen's stopped on the north shoulder.

Both drivers were transported by Prescott EMS to the hospital. The Prescott Fire Department and Siewerts Towing also assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

Two weeks ago -- the evening of Dec. 1 -- a collision at the same intersection with similar circumstances -- killed a Cottage Grove, Minn. man. Matthew D. Amos, 22, died after his northbound car failed to stop at Hwy. 10 and County Road E and struck the rear of an eastbound semi-truck.

A passenger in Amos' car, Nancy Valois Graves, 22, of St. Paul, suffered critical injuries in the crash. As of Monday, Dec. 17, Graves remained hospitalized in fair condition at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
