Elizabeth L. Hutton, 86
Elizabeth Lucille "Betty" Hutton, 86, of Hudson, died on Friday, July 24, 2009, at the Arthur Rose Care Home in New Richmond.
Betty was born on June 29, 1923, in St. Paul, to Casper and Elizabeth (Harrison) Strobel.
She attended St. Mark's School, and graduated from St. Paul Central High School. Betty furthered her education at the Minnesota School of Business where she earned a degree in bookkeeping and accounting.
On Oct. 9, 1948, Betty was united in marriage to Howard James Hutton at St. Mark's Catholic Church in St. Paul. This union in marriage would be blessed with four children. Betty worked for the Hudson School District, and later was employed for many years as the Deputy Registrar of Probate for the St. Croix County Courts, retiring in 1995.
Betty enjoyed traveling, especially to warm destinations like Mexico, Hawaii and Florida. She was an avid cook, and gardener. Betty also enjoyed knitting and quilting and was a member of the Hudson Heritage Quilters. She loved hosting family and friends, and relished her role as doting grandmother and great-grandmother. The warmth and love Betty shared will be missed by family and friends.
Betty is survived by her children: Michael (Terilynn) Hutton, Deborah (Mel) Hutton Olson, Patricia Hutton and Susan Hutton; grandchildren: Emily (Chris) Lownsbury, Laura Foster, Matthew (Ember) Hutton, Erik Olson and Dana Foster; great-grandson, Ethan Lownsbury; sister, Mary McGrath; brother, Thomas (Ann) Strobel; sisters-in-law: Anita Bartoldus and Carol Forsberg; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Howard in 1965; her parents; and two brothers.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 30, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Hudson.
Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Hudson.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass at the church, and also from 5-8
