Edythe L. Benedict, 100
Edythe L. Benedict, 100, of Roberts, died, Friday, March 7, at Baldwin Care Center.
She was born on Oct. 25, 1913, in Lignite, N.D., to Adolf Victor and Ida (Johnston) Bengtson.
Edythe married Edmund Benedict on Nov. 18, 1935, and they had four children together. She worked at St. Croix Natural Gas Company for many years. She loved sewing, gardening, cooking, dancing, baking, knitting, crocheting, and making quilts for all of her grandchildren. Many family members have homemade dolls.
She is survived by four children, Virginia (Donald) Schwan of Star Prairie, Carol Becker of Roberts, Sharon Benedict of Woodbury, Ron Benedict of Hammond; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Lillian Christianson, and Rosie Paulson; nieces; nephews; and other relatives.
Edythe was preceded in death by her husband Edmund; son, Kenneth; son in-law, Tom Becker; six siblings, Alan, Augut, Knute, Mable, Jeanette, and Linnea.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 9, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, with Fr. Gerald Harris officiating. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Burial was held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 10, at St. Bridget Cemetery.
