Donavon Obermueller, 81
Donavon "Don" W. Obermueller, age 81, of River Falls, died Friday, May 24, at the Kinnic Health & Rehab. Center.
Don was born in Glenwood City, Wis., on May 8, 1932, to William and Elsie (Neumann) Obermueller. At the age of two he and his family moved to River Falls where he has lived ever since. Don was a graduate of River Falls High School and served in the US Army from 1952-1954. He served in Ft. Myer, Va., at Arlington National Cemetery on the Honor Guard. Following his honorable discharge he returned to River Falls where he farmed until his retirement. He married Shirley Meyer on Feb. 2, 1953, at St. Bridget parish house.
Don was a dedicated farmer for 56 years, his lifelong dream. He loved playing practical jokes and spending time with his family, especially the grandkids and great-grandkids. He enjoyed watching all kinds of sports.
Don is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley; two children, Denise (Jay) Killian, and Don (Mary) Obermueller, all of River Falls; son in-law Dennis (Cindy) Kusilek; eight grandchildren, Scott Kusilek, Brian (Lesa) Kusilek, Kyle (Kristin) Killian, Katy Killian, Jason Obermueller, Kristin (Nate) Herum, Kim Obermueller, Pam Obermueller; three great-grandchildren, Morgan Killian, Nora Killian and Jack Killian; three sisters, Geraldine (Charles) Hocking, Arlene Malmer, Diane (Bill) Esswein.
Don was preceded in death by his daughter Donna Kusilek; his parents; and brother-in-law Jerry Malmer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 29, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, River Falls, WI. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the Mass on Wednesday.
Military honors will be provided by the veterans of Fletcher-Pechacek American Legion Post #121, River Falls, WI.
