Diane Ruth Preisler (nee Bredl), 63, passed away peacefully on the morning of June 5. She was at home in River Falls, Wis., with her family by her side. Diane had been in a long, courageous battle with chronic liver disease and was most recently in the care of ADORAY Home Health and Hospice.
Born and raised in Hartland, Wis., Diane attended Hartland Elementary and Arrowhead High School and later graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. She received her master's teaching degree from Aurora University. Diane remained in the Lake Country area of Waukesha County throughout her career and taught grades K-3 at Swallow and Hartland/Lakeside elementary schools for 30 years until her retirement in 2007. She and husband, Steve, then relocated from Pewaukee to River Falls to be closer to their daughters, Mara (Mashek) and Liz (Runquist), their husbands, and four grandchildren.
Diane is survived by her loving husband and 45-year companion, Stephen "Steve" Preisler; daughter Mara Mashek and her husband, Douglas, and grandchildren Jenna and Sean; daughter Elizabeth Runquist and her husband, Eric, and grandchildren Owen and Crosby. She is further survived by sisters Kathy (Tim) Roesch and Patricia (Terry) McCarthy; brother Ronald (Alice) Bredl; brothers-in-law Carl (Patricia) and Roger (Mary) Preisler; and sister-in-law Mary Ann (Skip) Nelson; along with 12 nieces and nephews and their families. She was also the proud Mom of AFS exchange students Stefano Bernabino from Turin, Italy, and Daniel Thull from Koblenz, Germany.
Diane was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Bredl; mother, Marion Bredl; father-in-law, Stephen Preisler; and mother-in-law, Leona Preisler.
Diane's life will be celebrated with two memorial services, the first on Thursday, June 13, in the parish hall at St. Charles Catholic Church in Hartland. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. followed by a memorial. Then on Saturday, June 15, visitation will be 10 a.m.-noon, followed by a memorial, at St. Bridget Catholic Church in River Falls, also in the parish hall.
