Debbie Meyer, 53

Debbie Meyer, 53, of River Falls, died Thursday, June 3, 2010, at her home after a long struggle with cancer.

Debbie was born March 28, 1957, to Dorothy and Norbert Meyer. She attended the River Falls schools and graduated in 1975. After attending vocational school, she started her own cleaning service with many local businesses as her clients. In August 1997, she began working for the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, first as a custodian and later transferred to the mailroom. Most recently she was the inventory control coordinator.

Debbie has always been an independent woman who lived life on her terms. She was most happy when she was with her family and friends. She was immensely proud of her three sons, who were the light of her life. She loved to entertain at her home, which was the site for many family gatherings, pool parties, bonfires, and Thanksgiving dinners. She had on open-door policy at her house and enjoyed it when people just stopped by. She enjoyed being outdoors, four-wheeling, boating and using her camper with her family at different lakes.

Debbie had always been a hard worker, always busy with the next project. Even during her treatments, Debbie didn't like to miss work. She enjoyed her co-workers at the University and many became her friends.

She is survived by her three sons, Aaron (Kim) Lacy, Adam and Andrew Lacy; her parents, Dorothy and Norbert Meyer; brothers, Dan Meyer (friend Sandy), David (Karin) Meyer, Duane (Jenni) Meyer; sister, Dawn (Rich) Bauer of Kenyon, Minn.; nieces and nephews, Ryan, Lucas and Melissa Meyer, Tanya and Sandra Meyer, Nicholas, Jessica and Nathan Bauer, Rylee Meyer. She will also be missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins and her close friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Eugene and Clara Meyer and Fred and Ruth Pechacek.

A private visitation was held Friday, June 4, at Debbie's home.

A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, at St. Bridget's Church in River Falls with Fr. Harris officiating. Memorial visitation will also be held on Tuesday from 3-5:30 p.m. at the church.
