The first baby born in River Falls, Tanner Johnson, is also the first baby of Tammi and Lyle Johnson. Tanner weighed in a few weeks early at 4 pounds. 14 ounces, and was 19 inches long. He was delivered at 8:20 p.m., Jan. 1, by Dr. Greg Goblirsch.

20 YEARS AGO -- 1990

Matthew Allen Hale arrived at 10:14 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, at River Falls Area Hospital, to lay claim on the title of first baby born in 1990. Parents are Andrew and Rose Hale of River Falls. He weighed 8 pounds, 11 3/4 ounces, and was 22 inches long. Matthew is his parents' first child, and was delivered by Dr. David Wilhelm.

30 YEARS AGO -- 1980

Elizabeth and Daniel W. Anderson were the parents of the first baby of the new year. Tyler arrived at 12:25 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 8, weighing 10 pounds, 8 ounces, and was 22 1/2 inches long. Tyler joined 14-month-old sister, Nickoll, at home.

40 YEARS AGO -- 1970

Arriving on the scene at 8:02 a.m. New Year's Day at St. Joseph's Hospital here, Paul Kliszcz weighed 8 pounds, 5 1/2 ounces, and joined his mom, dad and one brother at the Kliszcz farm three miles west of River Falls.
