CVTC President Accepts Ice Bucket Challenge
EAU CLAIRE– Shortly after taking three buckets of ice water himself, Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) President Bruce Barker called out new UW-Stout Chancellor Bob Meyer and UW-River Falls Chancellor Dean Van Galen in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
Barker accepted a challenge from Eau Claire City Manager Russell Van Gompel and had buckets of ice water poured over him at noon Wednesday in front of CVTC’s Business Education Center in Eau Claire, with dozens of faculty, staff and students looking on. Doing the honors were CVTC vice presidents Tom Huffcutt, Margo Keys and Roger Stanford.
Barker wore one of his business suits, but also jokingly added a life jacket, goggles and snorkel, float tube and a pair of flippers.
Barker will be making a donation to ALS in addition to taking the ice water bath.
In remarks before the ceremonial pouring, Barker noted that Van Gompel also challenged UW-Eau Claire Chancellor James Schmidt and Eau Claire Area School District Superintendent Mary Ann Hardebeck, who had not yet responded.
Afterwards, Barker said of the ice water bath: “Didn’t feel too bad. It’s a nice, sunny day.”
