Compassion rewarded with competition
To celebrate raising $3,142.05 during the 'Penny War' competition, where students brought in pennies to give to the River Falls Community Food Pantry and the donation of 1,575 pounds of food and household items, Meyer Middle School students played a tough game of Battle Ball against the teachers. Student TA groups competed against one another for a shot to play Battle Ball against the teachers and staff.
Doug Steinbronn's TA (homeroom) took home the title of best donated food sculpture. Students were challenged to build a sculpture out of the food items they collected using the theme, "The Wildcat Way" and demonstrating the character traits of courage, citizenship, compassion, cooperation, perseverance, positive attitude, respect, responsibility and honesty.
