The win was the first of the season for the Cardinals while the Wildcats slipped to 1-5 overall, 0-4 in Big Rivers Conference play.

Chippewa Falls took a 21-7 halftime lead with the Wildcat touchdown coming on a 12-yard, second quarter run by quarterback Jon Krueger. Earlier Krueger had a 60-yard touchdown run called back by a holding penalty. He left the game just before halftime with an injury and did not return.

Sophomore Austin Temme in his first action at quarterback this season, accounted for the Wildcats’ only other touchdown of the game, a 2-yard run late in the third quarter to make the final 34-13.

See the Oct. 3 print edition of the River Falls Journal for more on the game.
