  • Cited two River Falls School District students for battery. One, a 15-year-old freshman boy at the high school allegedly punched another boy in the face near the lockers. The 15-year-old had been jostled earlier, was angry, and retaliated. The second, a 12-year-old Meyer Middle School boy, allegedly approached another male student leaning against a wall and pulled the legs out from under him. The victim, who has asthma, fell on his back and had trouble breathing for a while.
  • Cited a 22-year-old Minnesota man who attends the local technical college for stealing an employee's cell phone at Steve's Pizza Palace at 12:30 a.m. Friday. The employee had his phone out as he cleaned tables. The 22-year-old was with a group of four waiting to pay for their pizza when the theft allegedly took place. The suspect and the group left, the phone was still missing and police were called. Steve's surveillance video was checked. The cell phone was later recovered from the dorm room of a UW-RF female student who was with the suspect. The suspect later apologized but couldn't explain his actions. He was given a $240 fine.
  • Arrested a 29-year-old Mound, Minn., man for disorderly conduct and property damage related to excessive partying at the Best Western Motel, 100 Spring St., at 5 a.m. Sunday. The man allegedly caused a ruckus that brought noise complaints. He also allegedly tried to use a fire extinguisher to spray people staying in the motel. He had been warned earlier in the night about disruptive behavior at two other downtown locations.
  • Arrested a 26-year-old local man and a 25-year-old local woman for their alleged roles in fighting inside and outside Boomer's Bar, 106 N. Main St., around 2:45 a.m. Saturday. The man allegedly punched a bouncer who was herding patrons outside for closing. The conflict continued on the street where the woman allegedly punched a male bystander in the nose as he tried to separate the 26-year-old man from the bouncers. After being booked and given $177 fines at the police station, the man and woman, because of the bitter cold, were given a courtesy ride back to her place.
  • Called for an ambulance to take away a 25-year-old local woman who had a panic attack while waiting for her male friend as he was arrested for drunk driving and marijuana possession at 2:20 a.m. Saturday near Main and Elm streets. She had been a passenger in his vehicle when it was stopped.
