Buel left school in the 9th grade to help support his family. As part of the New Deal he was accepted in the Welding Vocational Training Program in the Mobile, Ala., shipyards as an apprentice welder. Buel served in the Army throughout the entire Pacific Campaign during WWII, notably in the New Guinea Campaign and in the invasion of the Philippines. After the war he remained in the army, achieving the rank of staff sergeant. Buel worked as a Journeyman Lithographic Pressman primarily with Ladendorf brothers printing Chicago, Ill., for over 20 years. In his later years he served as a handyman for the Foster Associates fixing and maintaining their properties.

Buel was a drag racer for a number of years and a true "Car Guy," for many years augmenting his income as a shade tree mechanic. He was a good Christian man and attended Baptist church. Buel will probably best be remembered for his sense of humor and playful nature. A gregarious and outgoing person, he helped many people, sometimes total strangers, especially with their car issues.

Buel is survived by children, Patricia Jo (James) Larsen, Edward Foster Hall, and Dianne (Jerry) Matejka; grandchildren, Nathan Pomeroy, Matthew Pomeroy, Katherine Matejka, Samuel Larsen, Hunter Hall, and Joseph Hall; and a brother, Bures Hall.

He was preceded in death by wives, Joan and Delores; sisters, Leona, Vernell, Agnes, Nona; and a brother, Buford.

Private funeral services will be held at the Cashman-Hill Funeral Home in River Falls. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Edward Hall, Jim Larsen, Nathan Pomeroy, Matthew Pomeroy, Samuel Larsen, and Hunter Hall. Honorary pallbearers are Harold and Joseph Hall.
