Border Battle bike race returns Aug. 16
The second annual Trek Border Battle Mountain Bike Races will take place on Sunday, Aug. 16, on the trails of White Tail Ridge Corporate Park in River Falls.
Last year, over 600 racers from the Wisconsin Off Road Series (WORS) and the Minnesota State Championship Series (MNSCS) competed against each other for bragging rights and a traveling trophy in the inaugural event in River Falls. Wisconsin edged Minnesota by 16 points and will look to defend its title at this year's event.
The Border Battle is the eighth race on both the WORS and MNSCS circuits this season. Racers from each state will be competing for points towards the overall series awards.
The event begins with a trail run at 8 a.m. and mountain bike racing from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A kids' race, for youth age 10 and under, will be held at 1 p.m. and will be a non-technical short fun race. Concessions will be available from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Among the events' main sponsors are The Route Bike Shops and Trek Bicycles. The trails at White Tail Ridge will present a course that is a challenging mix of predominantly single and double track with some areas of wide-open field.
