Bonnie Kusilek, 74

Veronica "Bonnie" Kusilek, age 74, of Baldwin, died peacefully Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at the Baldwin Care Center.

Bonnie was born Nov. 10, 1935, in Troy Township, the daughter of Edwin and Mabel (Cernohous) Rohl. She attended Pierce Valley Country School prior to graduating from Prescott High School in the class of '53. On June 15, 1954, Bonnie was united in marriage to Jerome Lubich. To this union, children Susan and Peggy were born. Jerome was tragically killed in a farm accident on April 27, 1956. Bonnie married Gerald Kusilek at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in River Falls on June 7, 1958. Jerry and Bonnie were blessed with children Joseph, Jeffrey, Jacqueline, Christine, James, Caroline, and Dana.

Bonnie loved every part of being a wife and homemaker. Sunday dinners, helping on the farm, and watching her grandchildren grow up gave her the utmost pleasure. She was a gifted mother who supported her children and led by example in living a Christian life. Bonnie enjoyed a fun filled game of cards, golfing with Jerry, gardening, canning, making her famous pickles, and baking cookies, pies, and desserts. She was a project leader for the Lone Pine 4-H Club, and never failed to stand up for what she believed in, especially Wisconsin Right to Life. Bonnie's love of the church was demonstrated by her many years of dedicated service. She treasured time spent traveling with Jerry to such places as the Holy Land, Medjugorje, Europe, Arizona and Hawaii.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Jerry; children, Susan (Stan) Gausman of Baldwin, Peggy (Ray) Niemczyk of Coon Rapids, Minn., Joseph (Anna) Kusilek of Baldwin, Jeffrey (Anne) Kusilek of Galveston, Texas, Jacqueline (Dennis) Mitchell of Erin Prairie, Christine (Jim) Mikla of Baldwin, James (Audrey) Kusilek of Rice Lake, Caroline (John) Timmers of Woodville, Dana (Michael) Timmers of Baldwin; 37 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary (Norman) Huppert of Ellsworth, Don Rohl of Ellsworth, Marguerite (Robert) Matzek of Hudson, John (Jeanne) Rohl of Prescott, Joan deLeon of Stillwater, Kathleen (Robert) Rotty of Hastings, Minn., Richard (Penny) Rohl of Ellsworth, James "Jay" (Geri) Rohl of Prescott, Gary "Tim" (Judy) Rohl of Beldenville, Paula (Ed) Fielder of Prescott, Stephen (Peggy) Rohl of River Falls; sister-in-law, Carol Rohl of Ellsworth; brother-in-law, Hank Cram of Wyoming, Minn.; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Jerome; sister, Linda Cram; brother-in-law, Ben deLeon; and infant granddaughter.

Mass of Christian Burial for Bonnie Kusilek will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hammond with Fr. William Murphy officiating and Deacon Joe Paron con-celebrating. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Hammond. Rosary will be said at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday. Visitation one hour prior to Mass. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Hammond with her grandsons serving as active casket bearers and her granddaughters serving as honorary casket bearers. Memorials are preferred and will be used toward Bonnie's favorite charities.
