Blood donations needed
The American Red Cross thanks those who've given blood during the summer. It asks those donors and other people to consider giving blood again to maintain a stable supply for fall.
"Blood donors really do help save lives," said Geoff Kaufmann, a regional American Red Cross CEO. "By donating blood every 56 days you can help patients in need and change a life."
While all blood types are sought for a stable patient blood supply, types O and Rh negative are especially needed now.
An upcoming blood donation drive in River Falls is set for Monday, Aug. 31, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 211 E. Division St., from 1-7 p.m.
To donate, call 1-800-448-3543 or go online at givebloodgivelife.org to make an appointment or for more information.
A blood donor card or driver's license, or two other forms of I.D. are required at check-in.
Those 17 and over weighing at least 110 pounds who are in good health are eligible to donate blood.
