Band 513Free will play at Bethel Sunday evening
Bethel Lutheran Church is hosting a concert by 513Free Sunday, April 7, at 7 p.m. at Bethel Highlands, 504 Frontage Road.
Tickets are available at the door for a $10 donation. Proceeds will go to Campus Crusade for Christ and CRU missionaries Joshua and Rose Barta. Joshua Barta graduated from Hudson High School in 1999 and attended Bethel Lutheran as a youth. He and his wife are making an impact on young lives throughout the Midwest through Campus Crusade for Christ.
After graduating from Hudson High School, Barta received a degree at Minnesota State University in Mankato, Minn. It was at Mankato that he became involved with Campus Crusade. After graduating, he went to work with CRU on the MSU campus.
"I then moved to Florida and spent six years there," Barta said. In the summer of 2012, he came back to work in the Minneapolis CRU office.
"I work in leadership development with includes training, ongoing development and hiring." The office oversees campus ministries in North and South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. He and his family now live in Maplewood, Minn.
"I'm looking forward to the concert," Barta said. "The funds will help our ministry, but I really look at it as an opportunity to connect more people to Jesus -- that's what it's ultimately all about. It's a blessing to invest in young people."
He said he is happy to still have connections with the Hudson
The band 513FREE was born out of a desire to share the love of Christ through music and service. Both Barta and the band are passionate about connecting people to Jesus Christ. Along with leading worship for events and services, the band plays music for festivals and in concert settings.
The band is a non-profit organization formed by a common vision to travel to places others won't, including but not limited to prisons, churches and rehab centers.
