Avakian performs Dec. 22 at The Phipps
Nathan Avakian will perform in concert on the Wurlitzer theater pipe organ on Saturday, Dec. 22, at 2 p.m. at The Phipps Center for the Arts.
The theater organ will blend with 21st century technology in a show with something to offer for every listener. Selections will span a wide variety of eras and styles including jazz, classical, rock, and holiday tunes. The program will also include several three-minute contemporary silent films from the International Youth Silent Film Festival set to original theater organ music composed by Avakian.
As a concert artist, the 20-year-old musician performs internationally for various organizations and organ preservation societies. He recently completed a six-week concert tour of Australia and New Zealand, sponsored by the Theatre Organ Society of Australia.
On the home page of his website, www.avakiancreativeworks.com, there is currently a video of his newest arrangement utilizing a custom accompaniment track like the ones he will be integrating into his concert at The Phipps.
