Auditions for 'Morning's at Seven' open Tuesday
SPRING VALLEY—The Spring Valley Stagehands’ next theater production will be Paul Osborn’s “Morning’s at Seven,” directed by Lori Peterson.
Auditions will be held beginning at 7 p.m. next Tuesday and on Thursday, Dec. 12, at the Spring Valley Community Center (formerly the Spring Valley Senior Citizens Center) on McKay Street. People auditioning should come prepared to read from the script and to note their availability for evening rehearsals, which will begin just after New Year’s.
Peterson provides the following synopsis:
This sweet, heartwarming Tony-award winning comedy depicts a day in the life of a seemingly wholesome, but secretly eccentric, family in a small Midwestern town in the 1930s. The four Gibbs sisters are getting on in years and live in cozy but dangerous proximity. And today is a major event: Ida’s boy Homer is finally going to introduce Myrtle Brown, his fiancée of seven years. This classic has enjoyed several successful revivals on Broadway for its gentle humor, charming characters and its portrait of a bygone America.
The cast is four males and five females, with an age range of late 30’s to late 60’s. The show will run Feb. 20, 21, 22, 27, 28 and March 1, 2014, at 7 p.m., and Feb. 23 and March 2, 2014, at 2 p.m.
