Area incumbent to seek re-election to Wisconsin Legislature
BALDWIN – State Assemblyman John Murtha said Monday, March 24, he will seek another term in office.. Murtha, a Republican from the 29th district, represents the eastern edge of the River Falls area in St. Croix County.
A small-businessman, he was first elected to the state Assembly in 2006.
“With the support of my constituents, I’m pleased with what we have been able to accomplish these last eight years,” Murtha said. “However, I feel there is more work to do, which is why I will ask the voters of the 29th Assembly District for the privilege of representing them for the next two years.”
Murtha pointed to his votes to balance the budget, invest in worker training, and reduce property and income taxes as reasons to re‐elect him. In addition, he pledged to again make job creation his top priority next term.
Murtha and his wife Terrie reside in the Town of Eau Galle. They have four adult children, and two grandchildren.
Murtha is a former town chairman and founder of Murtha Sanitation in Baldwin. He is known for his appearances around St. Croix County with the band Trigger Happy.
