ELLSWORTH: Republicans host spring banquet

The Republican Party of Pierce County will host a "Spring Banquet" beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at the Zion Covenant Church Fellowship Hall, 210 N. Beulah St. Doors open at 5 p.m. for visiting with beverages and snacks; a beef dinner at 6 p.m.; and Republican candidates for the 3rd Congressional District, state governor and Assembly offices speaking after the meal. The public is invited to attend. Reservations are due by Thursday, April 22, by calling 273-3241. Cost is $17.50 per person and is payable at the door.

HUDSON: Garden symposium set

The Hudson Home and Garden Club will sponsor a "Garden Symposium" from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, May 1, at The Phipps Center for the Arts. Proceeds will benefit community garden projects. Included in the event are a silent auction and speakers Tom Martell, Lowell Jacobson and Heidi Heiland. Refreshments will be served. ST. CROIX VALLEY: Volunteers needed

Volunteers are sought by Community Thread, a nonprofit organization that connects people and enriches lives through a variety of programs in the St. Croix Valley, when it hosts its second annual Spring Into Service event on Saturday, May 1. All ages of volunteers are welcome, with children 12 and under accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Art-Opener -- The St. Croix Valley studio tour will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 1 and 2, featuring artwork of 20 area artists at nine artists' studios in River Falls and Hudson, and Stillwater, Minn. HUDSON: Artists sought

Artists are sought to take part in the "Spirit of the St. Croix Days" juried art fair which will take place Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 25 and 26. Spirit Days is an art, food and music event sponsored by The Phipps Center for the Arts in partnership with the Hudson Area Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Bureau. The postmark deadline for applications is Saturday, May 1. SPRING VALLEY: Whitesidewalls, choir give encore performances

The Whitesidewalls Band and the Adult Community Choir plan encore performances on at 2 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, May 2, at the Spring Valley Stagehands Theater. The show features music from the '60s, with songs like "I Got You, Babe" by Sonny & Cher, "The Monster Mash," "Moon River" and more.
