Antique saw brings down new tree at City Hall
River Falls police arrested a 21-year-old local man before dawn Friday for allegedly going on a rampage of breaking home and car windows, knocking over a light pole, and slicing down a young tree on Lewis Street behind City Hall. Damages were said to occur were on Dallas, West Maple, West Elm and North Pearl streets.
The man used some kind of antique saw that he grabbed from the apartment where he lives in the 200 block of Lewis Street. He was also charged with domestic disorderly conduct at his address for threatening a male and a female roommate.
Also in the past week police:
--Arrested a 23-year-old man for using heroin and for drug paraphernalia possession at a rental house in the 700 block of Valley View Drive late Saturday morning. The landlord made the discovery after being asked in inspect the building's air conditioning. The suspect was found lying in a basement bedroom next to several syringes and spoons with heroin residue. More drug evidence was allegedly recovered when a drug-sniffing dog was brought in from the St. Croix County Sheriff's Department.
--Arrested a 26-year-old woman for domestic battery, disorderly conduct and physical abuse of a child in the 100 block of North Sixth Street Sunday afternoon. The woman got involved in a family dispute that turned violent. She allegedly attacked her stepfather and bent back the finger of her young sister until it cracked. The woman was hauled to county jail.
--Cited a 17-year-old local girl for reckless driving/endangering safety at Hoffman Park Sunday afternoon. The girl and several young passengers were allegedly driving fast through the park's campground, blaring rap music. Some campers and their children felt threatened and yelled for the speeding car to slow down. One adult female camper went out to the road to try to stop the girl's car, but allegedly was clipped on the side and slightly injured. The girl was eventually given a $303 fine.
--Cited a 17-year-old local girl for underage drinking in the area of Sixth and Lake streets last week Monday night. The girl was found wandering in the neighborhood wearing only a bikini and covered in dirt and with various cuts and marks. She insisted she was looking for her dog, but the dog was located back at her rental house in the 500 block of East Walnut Street. Because of the odor, the girl was tested for alcohol use and then cited. Police are still investigating this case because an 18-year-old man from the same address was seen running nearby - at the same time -- wearing only pants and caked with blood. He claimed he was hit by a baseball bat. Who swung the bat is still in question.
--Cited a 51-year-old man for disorderly conduct at the high school on Saturday morning, May 15. The man was described as disruptive and loud during his daughter's volleyball match. He was given a $177 fine.
