After five years, look who's back at the bowling alley
River Falls Wisconsin 2815 Prairie Drive / P.O. Box 25 54022

Dave Branigan of River Falls has returned as owner of St. Croix Lanes, 1153 Saint Croix St. He sold the bowling alley five years ago and reclaimed it this week. The place is closed now but preparations are underway to reopen.

Branigan's goal is to have the bowling alley open for business Monday afternoon, July 30.

That means open for bowling and for selling food. Branigan is still trying to get a liquor license for the bar. That, he said, may take a while.

"I will basically be the property owner this time," Branigan said.

A two-man management team will run the bowling alley.

Branigan's family ran Bud's Lanes for 40 years. It started downtown on Main Street before relocating in the mid-1980s to the city's north side.

Carter Smith of Enterprising Center Corp. bought and renamed Bud's Lanes in 2007.

Branigan said he bought the bowling alley back because of "business issues" that Smith and his corporation were having that could have affected payments to him dating from the 2007 purchase.
