Kwik Trip reaches go time

After first announcing the news about two years ago, the La Crosse-based Kwik Trip corporation began moving dirt at the north Main Street site where it's now building a second River Falls store.

The city has also begun work at the adjacent Quarry Road/Main Street intersection, where a traffic signal will be installed.

Local drivers have been seeing the banner: "Kwik Trip Coming Soon," and according to the company's Director of Real Estate Hans Zietlow, that means by late fall or early winter this year.

"It will definitely be finished before the snow flies," he said.

Zietlow said as soon as the foundation goes in, construction of the store will go quickly and probably take four months. He confirms that the new Kwik Trip will occupy nearly all of the five-acre site.

A small portion of the site will be available for sale. It sits on the northern edge, tucked between Quarry Road and the Kwik Trip.

Zietlow said the new store will take up about 50% more space than the one on South Main Street. He said the store will probably employ about 25 people. People can visit Kwik Trip's website to complete an application.
