Web site provides tax reciprocity information
While the Wisconsin-Minnesota Income Tax Reciprocity Agreement has been terminated, a Web site has been developed for both employers and employees who work in one state but live in the other.
"I'm still very disappointed that the governors could not reach an agreement that would save the program," said State Rep. Kitty Rhoades (R-Hudson).
"While the end of the agreement will not impact the 2009 tax return that we file this year, the Wisconsin Department of Revenue has compiled a useful Web site providing answers to the most frequently asked questions regarding the new process."
The Department of Revenue's Web site can be accessed at www.revenue.wi.gov/faqs/ise/mnrecipro.html.
The income tax reciprocity agreement was terminated by Minnesota in efforts to solve their budget problems.
The impact of the change will apply beginning Jan. 1, 2010 and will impact about 13,000 Minnesotans and 35,500 Wisconsin computers.
