Greenhouse opens on Jacques farm
PRESCOTT--The Jacques name has been well-known in Pierce County for years, whether for the Jacques Seed Company or the family's research on breeding corn.
Julie Jacques is hoping to add on to the legacy as she opened Seven Sisters Greenhouse last month on the grounds of farm number one of the original seed farms, off of Hwy. 29-35 in Prescott.
The name of the business carries special meaning as Julie had six sisters - Jean, Miki, Jaci, Georgette, Cyd and Ann (now deceased). The location has an impact as well, as Julie spent hundreds of hours working on the farms helping her father George grow the seed company.
"It's being able to continue to work on the farm, and with plants," Julie said about what she enjoys about the business.
The Hastings, Minn., native has always been familiar with growing things and running businesses. She is a former chef and restaurant manager, and also has done work with floral commercial installations in bars, restaurants and cities.
